A website and those who write for it are not the final arbiters of whether USADA has acted properly insofar as drug testing in boxing is concerned. There is no general appetite to undertake the effort and expense of a successful effort to deliver doping-free sport. That’s not the way real drug testing works.
Usually an athlete will store some of his blood when his hemoglobin levels are high, then reinfuse it right before an event. Related video Lance Armstrong admits doping Anti-Doping Agency released more than 1,000 pages of evidence in doping allegations against Armstrong and his teammates.
Illegal blood transfusions and other blood doping? Lance Armstrong admits to using EPO, blood transfusions and testosterone Because DHEA is accepted by the FDA as a legitimate dietary ingredient, DHEA is by far the most common prohibited anabolic agent found in dietary supplements. Since the DHEA precursor diosgenin is also found in soy and wild yams, these foods are sometimes advertised as a natural source of DHEA. DHEA is a precursor molecule for the creation of other sex hormones, including testosterone and estrogen. Cannabis and cannabinoids remain illegal in many countries with harsh penalties, including fines, jail time, and even the death penalty for possession, importation, and trafficking, even if only for personal use. To apply for a TUE for cannabinoids, please visit the TUE application page and download the USADA TUE checklist and WADA guidelines under the Pain Management section.
Had he, there’s a chance he would have emerged, like Merritt, with his sporting reputation intact. "They just say, okay, your testosterone carbon isotope ratio is abnormal so therefore you must have taken synthetic testosterone or DHEA or the androstenedione precursor. Catlin seemed confident he could develop a test that isolates testosterone from each of its precursors with the same degree of certainty as the one used in Cologne in a matter of months if USADA would ask for it. Especially considering there is a test available that can distinguish synthetic testosterone from testosterone precursors like DHEA. The contents of two sealed bottles purchased at the same time were examined by Catlin who found no contamination of any sort.
Then Toney tested positive for nandrolone. While logistics and cost would make mandatory testing on a broad scale impractical, unannounced spot testing could be implemented, particularly on elite fighters. For an agency that tests United States Olympic athletes and receives $10 million a year from the federal government, that’s a significant issue.
Athletes have tested positive for and have been sanctioned due to the use of supplements containing DHEA. Athletes should not use DHEA supplements because DHEA is prohibited at all times, even if it is consumed through a dietary supplement. While DHEA is allowed in the U.S. in both medications and over-the-counter supplements, it is considered a prohibited anabolic agent in sport. This includes consumer related information and updates on the regulation of products and substances that may cause an adverse health event and/or positive anti-doping test. We strongly advise that athletes do not carry these substances across international borders. The status of these substances in sport, nor whether an athlete has a medical exemption, has no bearing on how customs and immigration laws are enforced in specific countries. Consumption of these products has resulted in numerous hospitalizations,  and the drugs have been reported to cause hallucinations, increased heartbeat and blood pressure, aggressive behavior, anxiety, muscle spasms, nausea, and vomiting.
As the official anti-doping agency for the United States, USADA provides education, testing, and resources that empower athletes to compete with integrity and confidence. Regardless of how or why it is used, DHEA is still prohibited at all times for all athletes, even if it is prescribed by a doctor and regardless of whether it is natural or synthetic. Regardless, marijuana is prohibited in-competition by the World Anti-Doping Agency, and this status applies to all athletes regardless of the state laws where they live. Even though CBD is permitted at all times, this article explains the legal and anti-doping issues that continue to make CBD products risky for athletes. Unless an athlete has an approved Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE), the use of substances when they are prohibited in sport may lead to an anti-doping rule violation and sanction.
